Philip Alford: "Jem" from To Kill A MockingBird
Fans of "To Kill a Mockingbird" have reason to celebrate this year. Not only was the sequel, "Go Set a Watchman" published a few months back, and immediately became a best-seller - along with causing explosive sales of "To Kill a Mockingbird", but even more amazing is that Philip Alford, who played "Jem" in the academy award winning 1962 film will join us to speak at Afterglow. This is a rare and exciting opportunity to hear advice from one who has lived the experience, and to find out "What was it like to work as a child actor with Gregory Peck?", or "Did the actors and crew realize what a huge impact the movie would have during the Civil Rights era and beyond?" Mr. Alford is also known for his roles in Shenandoah (1965 with James Stewart ), Fair Play (1972), The Virginian, The Intruders, and more. Most recently (2015) he was involved in the documentary Earl Hamner: Storyteller. Born in Gadsden, Alabama, he was inducted into the Alabama Walk of Fame. We are fortunate and pleased to have Mr. Alford join us, and are honored to have him as a citizen and businessman of our town of Grenada where he owns Love Vapes, located at 1105 Sunwood Drive.
